My mentor, Kyle Zimmerman, was a previous Honoree with this esteemed list, and I was privy to what a big deal it is to be nominated for it. We held the photo shoot over the course of 3 days, in Downtown Albuquerque's luxurious Hotel Andaluz, with special permission.

I'm featured in a list of the Top 11 Commercial Photographers in Albuquerque! https://katethephotographer.com/blog/2021/8/top-11-commercial-photographers-in-albuquerque Today I was greeted by an exciting little email in my inbox, amidst all the miscellaneous messages crowding my Gmail account. I had to do a double-take because I wasn't sure if it was a spam! But Liz from PeerSpace, "like the Airbnb for production, event, and meeting spaces," had written to me to let me know I was featured among their top commercial photographer choices in Albuquerque! So cool! When I inquired about how the list was compiled, she replied, "Our team of writer-photographers researched and curated a list of the top talent in your town and you caught their eyes."

I'm just delighted and honored to be on a list such as this with my other colleagues.

The 11 Best Commercial Photographers in AlbuquerqueI made the list!

I worked with Nike! https://katethephotographer.com/blog/2020/3/i-worked-with-nike Screenshot Happy Spring! It is unreal that we are currently in a lockdown for coronavirus, but I'm trying to stay positive and reflect on some of my favorite photo shoots.

It's been almost 2 years since this one here, but until now, I had not been able to find the finished images published in my client's marketing. But YEAH, I worked with NIKE!! Like, THE Nike, as in the international sportswear brand!!

In Spring of 2018, I was asked to photograph a night of youth basketball games at the Zuni High School gym in Zuni, New Mexico, as part of the Zuni Youth Enrichment Project. They're a recipient of a Nike N7 grant, so it was requested that I capture some photos to feature on the Nike site and for their marketing materials. I filled multiple memory cards that evening, as you can imagine with sports photography. However, I am only going to publish the ones already used through the N7 website out of respect for the Native American families that may not wish to have their faces published.

"Back in the day,..." https://katethephotographer.com/blog/2015/11/-back-in-the-day A client recently asked me if I would photographer her dad, who's health was ailing and she wasn't sure how much time he had left. He actually said to her, "I'm not going to make it to Christmas." I was heartbroken upon hearing this, but jumped at the opportunity to try to capture what spirit was left in this wonderful father of hers. This morning was the shoot. He had just come from a doctor's appointment and had to rest before we got started. My client and I got to visit and she gave me some background to his favorite pastime, which was working on his antique cars, some of which he built from the ground up and some that he just collected and maintained. I learned that he built his first car at the age of 11, and that he has won various trophies in drag racing and boat racing over the course of his life. The shoot started and he was able to move around a little but was very stiff. We managed to get him in a few cars, and I had him lean on others. The longer we worked, the more excited he got, and his passion for cars became more and more prevalent. I tried to imagine him in his youth, the stories coming to life. At the end of the shoot I got a few clicks in of him and his wife next to one of the antique convertibles. I had warned her that it was something I wanted to do because I didn't want to catch her "off guard." So often we focus on the one person but forget to incorporate them with the people they love. For a few shots, I had her next to him and coached him to stare at the camera while she kissed him on the cheek multiple times. He started smiling and laughing. I fought back a tear before wrapping things up. As I was leaving, my client said to me that she hadn't seen her dad smile that much in months and it was wonderful to see him so happy. {sigh} I feel so fortunate to have met such a wonderful person, even if for a short time. We are hoping to do one more shoot with him in coming days, if we are able.  "Back in the day..."Albuquerque Lifestyle Photographer Kate Livingston

"Love, Nature:" My September Art Show at Anasazi Fields Winery https://katethephotographer.com/blog/2015/11/-love-nature-my-september-art-show-at-anasazi-fields-winery September is my favorite month. I might be biased because September has my birthday and wedding anniversary, but mostly because the weather is just perfect for being outside. I chose Anasazi Fields Winery because I love the relaxed atmosphere at their tasting room in their lovely Placitas location. My close friend Max Woltman co-hosted with me, and together we curated a show of exactly what we wanted to share. These images will be available on my website shortly for sale as well, but you may currently purchase some of them here: kate-livingston.fineartamerica.com

The Female Gaze https://katethephotographer.com/blog/2015/2/the-female-gaze In December this past year I was fortunate to be a part of an elite group of female photographers for a group show, "The Female Gaze," at the Matrix Gallery.

The following review is from The Passionate for Art blog, a compilation of Gale OBrien’s art reviews originally written for Q CLAPS~ Albuquerque Community Live Arts & Performance Services. Gale is also a motivational speaker and the author of the book Transformation: Creating an Exceptional Life in the Face of Cancer.
